Rox Berry extended their lead at the top of the Nile Special Pool League with a convincing 13-7 victory over Sinkers, maintaining their nine-point advantage over second-placed Scrap Buyers.
While missing out on the bonus point, the table leaders demonstrated their championship credentials in their first match back after the extended break.
Scrap Buyers kept pace with a 14-6 bonus-point win against Kireka Pool Club, though captain Wasswa Kayiiya admitted their title hopes have faded. "We relieved ourselves of pressure early in the season," Kayiiya conceded.
"Against weaker sides like Kireka, title contenders expect bonus points - but Rox Berry's consistency and midseason reinforcements made the gap insurmountable."
Rox Berry's dominance has persisted even without star player Joseph Kasozi, currently competing in China's Heyball Championships. Their 75-point tally appears increasingly secure as the season nears its conclusion.
Elsewhere, Upper Volta delivered a statement performance with a 15-5 rout of Club 408, leapfrogging the Ntinda-based side who have struggled after a promising start. The standings now show Rox Berry (75 points) comfortably ahead of Scrap Buyers (66) and Upper Volta (65), with Adi's Pool Club trailing in fourth (57 points).
With few matches remaining, the league appears headed for a predictable conclusion, though the battle for second place remains fiercely contested between Scrap Buyers and Upper Volta.
