Uganda v Zambia
Uganda's U17 national team bounced back strongly with a 3-0 victory over Tanzania in their second Group A match at the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
This convincing win comes after their disappointing 5-0 loss to hosts Morocco in their opening game.
The Cubs' goals came from James Bogere, Richard Okello, and Simon Wanyama, demonstrating improved performance and teamwork. With this result, Uganda keeps their hopes alive for qualification to the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The tournament, running until April 19, features 16 teams divided into four groups. Uganda finds itself in Group A alongside Morocco, Zambia, and Tanzania. Their final group stage match against Zambia on Sunday will be crucial for their progression in the competition.
This marks Uganda's third appearance at the U17 AFCON. Their debut in 2019 saw them exit at the group stage, while their qualification for the 2021 edition was unfortunately nullified due to COVID-19 pandemic cancellations. The current squad now looks to make history by advancing beyond the group stages for the first time.
