The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA), in collaboration with the Physical Education and Sports (PES) department of the Ministry of Education and Sports, has announced the five host schools for the 2025 USSSA national competitions.
The decision came after a thorough vetting process, where several schools presented bids to host the prestigious events.
Among the chosen schools, four will host USSSA national games for the first time, marking a significant milestone for them. The newly selected hosts include:
The only returning host is Seroma Christian High School, which will once again host the USSSA Swimming competition.
Bukedea Comprehensive School, despite being relatively new to national hosting, brings recent experience from hosting the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) games. St. Peter’s College Tororo, St. Joseph of Nazareth Mpigi, and Ngora High School will all be hosting national-level ball games for the first time.
Charles Yiga, Director of Sports at St. Joseph of Nazareth Mpigi, expressed confidence in their ability to host the games successfully. "We are ready to be the best hosts for the Elite games. While this is our first time hosting national school games, we've previously hosted other major events like Bika football and the USSSA zonal games, so we are well-prepared," Yiga remarked.
The USSSA competitions include a variety of sporting events across several categories:
The Elite Games kick off the annual sports calendar, while Boys’ Football and Ball Games I take place in April and May. Ball Games II and Swimming follow in July and August, leading up to the FEASSA games.
