KAMPALA - As a celebration for his recent degree (Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery) from Nkozi University, George Kwesiga aka Quex hosted a unique Friends Of Quex Listeners’ Party at Zimbali Bistro and Lounge in Nakasero last Saturday.

For a while, he however served people at the party in darkness.

Commonly known as The Lyrical Doctor, Quex, first apologized to his fans for starting the show late.

The party that was meant to start at 6pm with a series of interactive experiences for his fans was pushed to 9pm, sighting a low turn-up by then.

At 9:48pm as the night unfolded, curtain raisers took the stage, to perform to ‘an already tired’ audience. Lukas Blacc ignited the mood a bit, when he performed hit single Don Corleone.

Then came, Big Denesi from Bantu Vibes, Davis Violinist, Micheal Kitanda and Spyda Mc who also performed with fans sharing their favourite lyrics on Ebirooto and Emikisa hit singles.

Before Quex set foot on stage at 11:23pm, the MC encouraged an open discussion, inviting fans to share how Quex’s music had impacted their lives and how they got to know about the listeners’ party.

Clad in a white and gold glittering dress coat with Ugandan flag colors, Quex expressed his deep connection with those in attendance, revealing how this party was more than just a celebration but a get-together of art.

His stage entrance, with Jay Z’s Forever Young providing the backdrop, was one huge statement about his future prospects. He is here to stay.

It was too early for him to pompously pronounce himself as forever young. No sooner had he stepped onto the stage than ensued a 30-minute blackout.

Quex returned with apologies but with a groundbreaking performance of his 2020 release, Vibe kute. Rasta Man, Salubala, Akateeteeyi, Ugandan Made, Dusk till dawn and Kachumbali were the other songs he performed for his adoring audience.
