I will be buried on my empire – Gravity tells off relatives

KAMPALA - In a recent social media video, Gravity Omutujju’s paternal auntie and grandmother advised the singer to return home and build a house for himself, fulfilling the traditions and culture of his ancestral land.

They pointed out that while Gereson Wabuyi (Gravity's real name) frequently appears on TV and radio, and claims to have a lot of money that he can even afford to construct a community hospital in Busabala, Kampala, he has neglected his own relatives and norms. For them, charity should begin at home.

His auntie lamented that they still live in grass-thatched houses under poor conditions.

According to the relatives, if Gravity died now (God forbid), there would be no worthwhile graveyard to place him.

“He should return home and seek family blessings. Gravity will not find peace until he seeks these blessings,” the grandmother warned. The warning comes after a series of Gravity's flopped concerts. 

However, Gravity has responded to his paternal relatives in no kind words.

“I really do not know those people. I don't even know where they got my name from. I grew up on the streets of Nankulabye, struggling with my mother, Jane Kajoina. She fought to raise me as a single mother and gave me a future where there was none,” says Gravity.

“I also worked hard to start my career. My mother is well and has everything she needs, and I have already built her a home in Rwaihamba, Kabarole District, which is also my village. I know I am a Munyoli, but I have spent most of my time with my mother.

Now, as a man, I have started my own empire, and it is where I will be laid to rest. I have always put my mother first, and everyone knows her because I love her so much. If she had come out and spoken about this, it would be a different story, but as it stands, it's not worth my time”, Gravity said.
