Miss Bukede triumphs in Russia

The reigning Miss Bukedde winner Praise Wisdom has taken on the world.

The 15-year-old Senior Three student from St. Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School was the second runner-up in the recently concluded Our Generation song competition that took place in Kazan City, Russia. 

The competition targets talented children.

Participants were drawn from 15 countries. Participating African countries included Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria Madagascar and Ethiopia.  

Wisdom finished second among the African competitors. The overall winner was Brazil, with Madagscar coming second, after a gruelling eight days. 

At the Our Generation competition, Wisdom managed to showcase her musical abilities on an international stage.

In an interview at Theatre La Bonita yesterday (Monday), Wisdom explained how she joined the competition. 

“I thank God and all the people who voted for me to represent Uganda,” she said. “It was the Ghetto Kids manager, ….Kavuma, who told us about the competition. I forwarded my videos to the organisers in Russia and I was invited,” she said.

Beyond the competitions, participants had a chance to explore many cities like Moscow and engage in cultural exchanges.

Praise Wisdom was crowned Miss Bukedde during Season 3 of Miss and Mr Bukedde Talent competition at Wonder World, Kansanga earlier in the year.

Wisdom’s father, Noah Kibuuka thanked Bukedde TV for giving her a platform where she began her journey to the global stage. 

Her mother, Praise Barbra Wisdom Kibuuka, says Wisdom began singing at the age of 4, performing with bands like The Gang and Amani Band Ug. She is currently a recording artiste and regularly showcases her vocal talent in live performances.
