As the Nyege Nyege Festival enters its third day, the party continues to soar with vibrant energy, enjoyment, and cultural fusion. But beyond the music and dancing, festivalgoers are also experiencing a refreshing twist; over 4,220 litres of free drinking water have been made available to encourage moderation and responsible partying.
This initiative is part of Uganda Breweries Limited’s (UBL) responsible drinking campaign, a core element of their commitment to fostering positive drinking habits. The campaign aims to promote safe and informed alcohol consumption among revellers through a series of engaging activities at the festival’s responsible drinking sensitisation pit stop.
Revellers have been treated to interactive activities like karaoke challenges and trivia sessions designed to educate while entertaining. Winners have walked away with goodies, including water bottles, to remind them of the importance of staying hydrated and spacing their drinks.
“The karaoke challenge was a blast! It’s nice to see such initiatives at a festival like this it shows they care about our well-being,” said Fiona, a reveller from Kampala.
Speaking ahead of the third day of the festival, Brenda Kobutungi, UBL’s Corporate Relations Manager for Positive Drinking, highlighted the brewery’s dedication to using platforms like Nyege Nyege to influence positive consumer behaviour.
“Nyege Nyege is a perfect opportunity to engage and motivate people to embrace responsible drinking,” Kobutungi said. “Through activities like these, we’re helping consumers make informed choices while enjoying the festival. We’re also raising awareness against underage drinking, binge drinking, and drink driving.”
As Nyege Nyege rolls into its final days, the spirit of celebration remains high characterized by a culture of care, education, and, of course, unforgettable performances.
