Many Catholics at St Padre Pio Catholic Parish Kabulamuliro have observed Ash Wednesday by smearing ashes on their foreheads as a sign of repentance and a reminder of one’s mortality.
According to Parish Priest, Fr Francis Sseguya, although it is a period of COVID-19, people still want to have God’s blessing.
He told the believers that this is a period to help those in need.
Sseguya cautioned Christians against adoring earthly treasures because they are nothing.
He told them to look at the imposition of the ash as a sign of their humble nature because from ash we came and we will go.
“Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a period when Christians reflect and take stock of their spiritual life,” he said.
