Preparations in high gear for Bishop Mwesigwa’s 14th anniversary

Preparations for the 14th-anniversary celebrations of Bishop Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa of Ankole diocese are in high gear.

The ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday) at Ruharo grounds in Mbarara city, the diocesan headquarters of the Ankole diocese.

According to Rev Canon Bobs Mwesigye, the dean of St. James Cathedral and Bishop’s commissar, the event is expected to attract hundreds of Christians and friends of Bishop Mwesigwa from different parts of the country. 

Mwesigwa was consecrated at Ruharo grounds on July 18, 2010, becoming the 5th bishop of the Ankole diocese.

The bishop has been described by many as a dynamic, visionary, focused and strategic thinker whose leadership in 14 years has led the Ankole diocese to grow to greater heights.

He pioneered the establishment of several development projects that generated millions of earnings for the diocese.

Some of the projects include; building projects with five commercial buildings established in Mbarara city; these have assisted the diocese in ensuring that income from projects towards the diocesan quota constitutes 24%.

The buildings include; the St. Paul shopping mall, church community centre, Mothers' Union complex under construction, pension project being constructed and golden jubilee which will be completed in two months. 

The other projects include coffee growing, Millenium SACCO 2012 Ltd which has supported many institutions in the diocese with branches all over the country, Revival Junior School and Revival Girls High School among others.

Rev Abraham Ahabwe, the curate of Greater Ankole Archdeaconry said he cannot miss to witness a distinguished leader celebrating 14 years of service.
