Emmanuel Anyama emerged as the unlikely hero in KCCA's 3-0 Uganda Cup semi-final first leg victory over Kataka on Sunday at Philip Omondi Stadium, delivering a man-of-the-match performance that highlighted an otherwise difficult scoring season for the club's forwards.

The striker netted twice in a dominant display that surprised many fans. Speaking post-match, Anyama attributed his success to persistent effort, team support, and the squad's shared determination to win the Uganda Cup.

"Scoring two goals feels incredible," Anyama said. "I haven't scored many this season, and most came in away matches. Doing this in front of our home fans makes it extra special."

He emphasized the team effort behind his performance: "This wasn't just about me - we played collectively. Leading 3-0 gives us real belief we can reach the final." Ashraf Mugume completed the scoring with KCCA's third goal in the convincing floodlit victory.

The result extended KCCA's winning streak to four matches under interim coach Jackson Magera, who took the reins from Abdallah Mubiru last month. After losing his first two games in charge, Magera has orchestrated a noticeable turnaround in both performances and results.

In the other semi-final, Vipers secured a slender 1-0 advantage against Kitara. Both return legs are scheduled for May 17 or 18.
