The Uganda Cricket Cranes may have exited the T20 World Cup, but they have earned the praise of the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni. In a tweet, she commended the team for their dedication and commitment.

"I take this opportunity to appreciate and commend the Uganda Cricket Cranes for their unwavering efforts at the T20 tournament,” She tweeted.

“Despite their participation coming to an end, they have proudly upheld our flag and demonstrated what commitment and dedication can achieve," she added.

Uganda qualified after securing a top-two finish in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier, with five wins in six games. Although they lost to Afghanistan, New Zealand, and the West Indies, they managed to pick up a win against fellow associates Papua New Guinea in the group.

The team's captain, Brian Mark Masaba, and vice-captain, Riazat Ali Shah, led the team with distinction, alongside other players like Roger Mukasa, Simon Ssesazi, Ronak Patel, and Robinson Obuya. The experience of playing against top-tier teams has provided Ugandan players with valuable insights and aspirations to elevate their game.

As Uganda reflects on its debut campaign, the focus remains on continuous improvement and gaining more exposure on the international stage. The First Lady's commendation is a testament to the team's hard work and dedication, and a reminder that their historic achievement has made Uganda proud.

"I pray for their safe return home and implore all Ugandans to welcome and cheer our team, as they represented us all on such a grand stage." The tweet ended.
