Weatherhead Gazelles will tussle it out with Deliverance Church of Uganda (DCU) in the second leg of round one of the Hockey Uganda Cup tournaments that takes centre stage this weekend at Lugogo.
Even though both sides are in the rebuilding process, they will equally play out their hearts and continue to progress to the next round of the tournament.
DCU came into the game with an edge after beating Gazelles 2-0 in the first leg courtesy of Annet Namuwonge in the 52nd and Winnie Atim struck later with the second after six minutes.
Atim is confident in her side coming into the game on Saturday that they will overpower Gazelles and progress to the next round of the tournament.
“We are focused on pouncing hard on our opponents this time round too to enable us to cement our victory earned in the first round and see to it that we go to the next round,” Atim remarked in an interview with Vision Sports.
This game comes in after both DCU lost its last league game to Wananchi while Gazelles won theirs against Historicals 9-1 hence coming into the Saturday affair with Higher momentum.
In the men’s category, top contenders Wananchi SC face thunders while reigning champions Weatherhead face KHC Originals in an attempt to keep within the title reach.
Sunday will be fully packed with hockey action with Makerere University Eagles facing off on the route to Redemption Wananchi SC who did not own any major accolades last season.
