Wananchi v KHC Stallions
Wananchi SC captain Emmanuel Baguma is confident that his side will be at their best game this weekend as they face Kampala Hockey Club (KHC) Stallions on Saturday as the first round of the league climaxes.
“We are not taking any game for granted so Stallions should be prepared for us as we plot to dethrone Weatherhead Hockey Club from the summit of the league,” Baguma warned.
He noted this on Wednesday evening in an interview with Vision Sports as his side was training in preparation for the Saturday game.
Wananchi come into the last game of the first round on the back of an impressive display last weekend in the Hockey Uganda Cup round two second leg fixture against Thunders which ended 0-0 in their favour.
Relatedly, Stallions thumped the Titans 9-0 last weekend hence pumping more momentum into the game that will require more player intelligence but also a coaching skillset put to test.
Wananchi with Christopher Otim with over 25 years of coaching experience will have to deep down into his arsenal for unique artillery to outwit Stallion’s Makhtum Muziransa who is slowly rising the ranks in coaching.
Wananchi’s forwards Jordan Achaye, Hero me Owori, Jackson Musinguzi, and Baguma will have to play out their hearts in the game to overcome the high-pressing game of Stallions.
Muziransa’s forwards led by Benjamin Mkapa, Alfred Agaba, and Richard Ssemwogerere will be tasked to keep on their toes to deter the young Wananchi players from attacking often.
In the women's category, Gazelles faces Wananchi SC as both sides are plotting the dethronement of table leaders Swans who have 17 points at the top of the table but Wananchi comes third with 16, and Gazelles fifth with nine points.
