JT Lady Jaguars staged a comeback to defeat the UCU Lady Canons 57-52 in a thrilling National Basketball League encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday.

The Lady Canons dominated early, opening with a 10-0 run and ending the first quarter with a nine-point lead.

However, the Jaguars clawed back in the second quarter behind clutch three-pointers from Maimuna Nabbosa and Brenda Kayaga, taking a 24-21 lead before halftime ended level at 30-30.

UCU regained momentum in the third quarter as Shillah Lamunu’s back-to-back threes gave them a slim 47-44 advantage. But the Jaguars locked down defensively in the final period, limiting UCU to just five points.

Nabbosa led the charge with a team-high 12 points, while UCU’s Lamunu, Sylvia Nantongo, and Martina Anyango combined for 32 points in a losing effort.

In other women’s action, Nabisunsa Girls extended Nkumba Lady Marines’ losing streak to nine games with a 68-54 victory. Mpoza Abigail dominated with 29 points, six rebounds, and six assists, supported by Abifaith Musiimenta’s 11 points and Juliet Ezaga’s 13 rebounds. The Magic Stormers also edged Miracle Eaglets 65-62, with Daphine Adong stuffing the stat sheet (16 points, nine rebounds, five assists, five steals), while Akello Winnifred’s 20-point, 16-rebound double-double fell short for the Eaglets.

On the men’s side, the Rezlife Saints routed the struggling KIU Titans 84-59, with Leonardo Gilabi posting a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double. The UCU Canons continued their strong form, overpowering Livingstone 74-60 behind Marvin Okurut’s 21 points. Elsewhere, Sommet BC overcame the Victoria Crocs 67-60, fueled by John Teko’s 19 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks.
