Speedy winger Peter Onzima continued to surprise many Busoga United FC fans with yet another match winning display when he scored the winning goal as his side edged fellow relegation candidates Onduparaka FC 1-0 on Monday at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.
Onzima, originally a right back pounced on a loose ball to tap home from close range after 3 minutes.
It was Onzima's fourth goal of the campaign, winning his team 12 points out of 22 as the club continues to fight relegation.
"I had rested him for the last two matches but this time I had to use him because we were up against a physical opponent that needed a player like him who will run around in the wings to keep their fullbacks busy all the time," said Busoga United FC coach Vincent Lukyamuzi.
The home side's win was also partly due to a decisive performance by the backline marshaled by veteran defender Isaac Isinde and his pair James Tahomera(man of the match) who kept Onduparaka FC's striker James Jalieko at bay.
Onduparaka FC is bottom of the league (15th) with 13 points, three behind 14th-placed Blacks Power FC.
