The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) will hold their elective assembly on November 30.
To be eligible to stand for any position, members must first be vetted to ensure they are credible and capable of upholding and promoting the association’s image.
Incumbent president Moses Alysaed Lubega announced the election date during the Nile Special USPA monthly meeting held on October 7, at the Uganda Olympic Committee.
“We shall have the elections on November 30, and all those intending to stand for any post should make sure that they are in good standing,” Lubega said.
He explained that activities had taken a break to allow the executive time to review partnerships for better outcomes.
“We took a break to renegotiate all the contracts for better packages, and we are coming back with Plascon awards, monthly awards, and the annual gala early next year,” Lubega noted.
Lubega assured members that all previous winners would receive their awards and cash prizes. He also mentioned that more partners, including the National Lotteries and Gaming Board, are expected to join the association.
He emphasized the importance of discipline among members and vowed not to tolerate any behavior that could tarnish the association’s reputation.
“What we have done this year is to clear the debts of the association before we came into office, and we have managed to do so. We have negotiated scholarships with Clarke International University for our members and are negotiating with secondary schools for our children,” he added.
Lubega also mentioned that USPA will champion the campaign for ‘responsible gaming’ as the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board embarks on sensitizing the public about gaming.
