Bursts of energy, music, sensuality and inspiration defined the mood at Azawi’s maiden concert at Zoe Grounds in Lugogo, Kampala on Friday, July 22.
“Don’t make me cry” were the first words she spoke before performing.
Azawi was overwhelmed by the turnout.
It was a justification that she was on top of her game, however much she resisted what she was seeing in the crowds.
With two years of non-stop hits and Guinness’ backing, Azawi’s big night was a success from the onset.
She kicked off the first part of her performance at 10:00pm with her 2021 hit song, My Year.
This was followed by bangers like Crazy Love, Ache For You, and Gimme off her maiden album, African Music.
Azawi also paid homage to her label Swangz Avenue’s co-founder Benon Mugumbya by performing a Benon and Vamposs classic, I Know, with the duo.
However, the highlight of the first session was her performance with Winnie Nwagi aka Fire Baby, which sent revellers into a frenzy.
As she took a bow, Azawi thanked her fans for turning up to her first show and showing their support and appreciation for her music.
“Thank you all for coming out, thanks for the support. You guys have definitely made this my year!” Azawi said.
