HEROES DAY CELEBRATIONS

GOMBA - Shortly before the chairman of Luweero War Veterans Association, AL hajji Idrisa Ssedunga delivered the veterans and historicals statement at the Heroes Day celebrations at Kasooli-Mpenja sub-county headquarters in Gomba district on Sunday, the ground fell silent as popular revolutionary tunes played to honour fallen heroes.

He emphasised with Biblical commentary drawn from Psalms 115:5-8; “They have eyes but they do not see."

“We fear having the Pharaohs which we do not know, they make us suffer and we may not stand here again if you are not around,” he said.

They commended the President for the veterans’ gratuity package and asked him to ensure that the few outstanding issues in the management of the social scheme were ironed out.

The veterans reported cases of local crimes in the Luweero Triangle and appealed to the President and Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, to ensure more police presence in the area.
